Position: LEAD TEACHER FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Part-time: Monday-Friday 2:30-5:30

Pay: $20 per hour

General Description:

Horizon Christian is interested in highly relational and uniquely qualified teachers to teach their subject area. We desire teachers who model and develop attitudes consistent with a Christian worldview and who follow Jesus Christ.

Education Qualifications:

High school graduate. Previous work with children preferred.

Responsibilities:

Horizon Christian is looking for the following characteristics in their teaching staff:

Spiritual Leadership:

· Provides a role model in speech, actions, and attitude consistent with a daily walk with Jesus.

· Models’ personal growth and a relationship with Christ.

· Actively demonstrates respect for students under all circumstances.

· Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with misunderstandings among students, parents, and staff.

· Accepts and teaches the self-worth of each student as created in God’s image.

Reports to: Administration

Responsible for all aspects of the after-school program, including scheduling, attendance, program design, supplies, and communication.

Supervises: Students

Time required: There are 170 total program days for the 24-25 school year. Employees will be asked to be present for all 170 from 2:30-5:50 daily.

Instructional:

• Integrates biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the program.
• Utilizes appropriate teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy.

Professional:

• Has a teachable spirit and demonstrates an attitude of continued learning and professional development.
• Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the program.

Personal:

• Demonstrates enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
• Exercises friendliness and consideration while treating each student impartially.
• Submits respectfully, is loyal to constituted authority, and respects peers and authority.
• Represents the school favorably and professionally to the constituency and general public.
